All ready mix drivers are required to wash out into a suitable washout container or pit as defined by the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM).

Washout containers and their maintenance are the responsibility of the developer or contractor performing the work.

All ready mix drivers are responsible for determining if the washout container or pit is suitable to washout into.

Concrete Washout

Wash water is any water that comes into contact with any material on a ready mix truck. Wash water is a pollutant and cannot come into contact with any waters of the state.

Concrete Washout

Left over concrete is not considered a pollutant and can be left on the jobsite as long as it does not come into contact with waters of the state before curing.

All left over concrete and washout water must be left on the jobsite it was delivered to unless part of a pre-determined plan.

Hay bales and washout pits must be completely lined with 10 mil plastic.

Pits should not be near curbs or slopes that could run into waterways. Pits must be properly maintained during their use.

Dumpsters must be completely lined with 10 mil plastic and properly maintained during their use.

Available on the first truck with every delivery, for a fee. Approximately 1-2 washouts per bag.
